Volunteering and the CRC

NOVEMBER 17, 2022 -- We welcome and encourage family and friends to volunteer in our school communities. Volunteer participation is an important complement to the work done by employees.

At the same time, Regina Public Schools is responsible to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. For this reason, all volunteers who provide services to students on a recurring, scheduled basis, or who are present in a school on a recurring, scheduled basis prior to 6:00 p.m. on school days, require an original Criminal Record Check (CRC), including a vulnerable sector check.

The CRC must be provided by the Regina Police Service or, if the volunteer does not reside in Regina, from their local police agency, such as the RCMP.

There is a fee of $10.00 for processing a CRC for an individual in a volunteer capacity from the Regina Police Service. If the application is made online, there will be an additional fee of $9.95 (CRC and processing fees are the responsibility of the volunteer applicant.) In-person applications with Regina Police Service are by appointment only.

Individuals who volunteered during the past year and who have a satisfactory CRC on file do not require a new CRC for this school year. Volunteers are required to sign Administrative Procedure 403 – Reporting Criminal Charges annually. Individuals who have not volunteered for more than 12 consecutive months require a new CRC.

Regina residents can visit the Regina Police Service website for more details. If you reside outside of Regina, you must obtain your police information check from your local RCMP detachment or police service.

Student and staff safety go hand in hand with learning excellence.
