Volunteering and the CRC

NOVEMBER 17, 2022 -- We welcome and encourage family and friends to volunteer in our school communities. Volunteer participation is an important complement to the work done by employees.

At the same time, Regina Public Schools is responsible to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff. For this reason, all volunteers who provide services to students on a recurring, scheduled basis, or who are present in a school on a recurring, scheduled basis prior to 6:00 p.m. on school days, require an original Criminal Record Check (CRC), including a vulnerable sector check.

The CRC must be provided by the Regina Police Service or, if the volunteer does not reside in Regina, from their local police agency, such as the RCMP.

School Registration

If you have a child who will be 5 years old by Dec. 21, 2021, it is time to register for Fall Kindergarten!  Even if you already have children attending Argyle school, all new kinders must be registered.

New School Announcement

On Friday, September 18, 2020, provincial dignitaries, as well as Mayor Michael Fougere and SSBA President Shawn Davidson, were part of a second announcement. MLA Gene Makowsky introduced Deputy Premier Wyant, who announced the $47 million investment in the Argyle/St. Pius X joint-use school. Chairperson Gagne spoke on behalf of the Regina Board of Education.

The school will be built on the Argyle School site and will replace the existing Argyle School and the nearby Regina Catholic Schools’ École St. Pius X. The current Argyle School will continue to operate until the construction of the new school is complete. The new joint-use school will cost $47 million and will accommodate 400 Regina Public and 400 Regina Catholic students.

Classroom Planning - Fall 2024

As we begin to plan for the 2024-2025 school year, we are having discussions about classroom placement. One question that comes to the office in the spring and at the beginning of each school year is how we determine which class students will be in. The first thing parents and guardians need to know is this is a carefully considered process. There are a number of factors that go into this decision including the number of students in each grade, trying to get a balance of gender and abilities, and maintaining some social supports for each student. Overall, the most important consideration is what is in the best interest of all of our 482 students.

June is Pride Month!

In Regina Public Schools, we demonstrate our Shared Values that include belonging and respect. As a school division, we are committed to ensuring schools, and workplaces are inclusive and welcoming environments where Gender and Sexually Diverse (GSD) staff, students, families, and allies feel included, protected, and respected. Please join our school community as we celebrate PRIDE MONTH and demonstrate that ALL, however they identify and want to be, are welcome in Regina Public Schools.

System-wide PRIDE DAY is Friday, June 7. More information to follow.
